As a black man, I have to say that I could care less about whether the university of MD, was built from slave labor for other than purely mundane, factual, non-shockingly historical reasons. I only care about what it is now and what kind of cool majors I can get at the U of Md which is a great school. I graduated in the university of Md and I hope to go back and get more degrees. Yes my ancestors were slaves in this country, so what. I can't be angry at dead people, no matter how hard I try I just don't have any feelings about them. I like history and observe it from a holistic standpoint. I am glad that my ancestors were forcibly brought here to the united states because otherwise where would I be today? Would I even exist? I don't think any sort of reparations is really necessary or due should anyone actually suggest it. Inequality exists for many groups in the U.S. and I care about that, but skeletons in coffins just don't make me angry if you know what I mean..

Interesting. I think I get who the agent is, but who is the principal?If people paid their own way to go to college, then I think this economic issue would hold true. The issue is that college isn't there to serve the needs of the supposed "customers". It is there to serve the needs of "society" (taxpayers in the form of politicians and grant boards, major donations, corporations for research grants, etc.)
